Tabiona, Duchesne, Utah
The town of Tabiona taken from Tabby Mountain
Tabiona is a small farming town bordering the Duchesne River, nestled between two mountain ranges. Ten miles to the north, the Uintah mountains begin their steep ascent. The town was named for a Ute chief, Chief Tabby-To-Kwanah. There are presently 88 males and 83 females that reside within the city limits, but most of the valley’s population live in the rural areas within 5 or 6 miles of the town.
Because of its small population, Tabiona housed all 12 grades in the same building, which was also the case when Thomas attended school there.
